Fr Nicholas Schofield
Parish Priest
Born in west London and educated locally at St Joan of Arc RC School in Rickmansworth, he read Modern History at Exeter College, Oxford, and studied for the Priesthood at the Venerable English College, Rome. Fr Nicholas was ordained on 24 May 2003 and worked as assistant priest at the Shrine of Our Lady of Willesden (2003-06) and Our Lady and St Joseph’s, Kingsland (2006-09). He came to Uxbridge in September 2009. In 2018 he was appointed Area Dean of Hillingdon and since 2021 has taught church history at Allen Hall Seminary, Chelsea (in association with Mater Ecclesiae College, St Mary's University, Twickenham).
Since 2005 Fr Nicholas has worked as Archivist of the Archdiocese of Westminster. A Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Society of Antiquaries of London, he has been involved in over twenty publications. His books include Catholicism in Uxbridge (2011), Victorian Crusaders: British and Irish Volunteers in the Papal Army 1860-70 (2022) and Highways and Byways: Discovering Catholic England (2023). He is currently Chair of the Uxbridge Local History and Archives Society and sits on the Patrimony Committee of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales.
